With all the top players out like Sharapova, Serena, Azarenka - I thought the ladies' singles play would get lame. But I just watched the Halep / Bouchard semi and that is some AWESOME tennis. I'm enjoying this year whole lot more than last few years. I hope Bouchard wins it!

SuperNerd Sat, Jul 5, 2014 10:54 AM I wanted Genie to win it too - but that did not happen. Petra blew her off the court. Genie was not serving well. She double-faulted a few times in the first set. Then she took some off the serves to get them in and Petra just sat back and attacked her 2nd serves. There was nothing Genie could do about that except start getting her serve going - which she was not able to do in the time she had. Petra - on the other hand - was serving well. In the end that was the difference in this match. Well - Genie is young and quite very talented. She'll win the big ones in due time (assuming she can stay healthy). BTW - Genie won Wimbledon 2 years ago - the Girl's Singles category. |
